The Bachelor of Science in Microbiology equips students with the knowledge and hands-on laboratory experience needed to pursue careers in biotechnology, research, clinical diagnostics, and public health. Through General Microbiology and Medical Microbiology options, students develop an understanding of cell structure, metabolism, microbial evolution, and the interactions between microorganisms, humans, and the environment, while gaining technical laboratory skills, applying scientific methods to real-world questions, and preparing for careers in environmental and industrial microbiology, pharmaceutical and biomedical research, clinical laboratory science, public health microbiology, or advanced study in the biological sciences.

International students applying for freshman admission must have graduated from a college-preparatory high school program and must not have completed or attempted any college or university coursework after high school graduation. Applicants are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (B) on the U.S. 4.0 grading scale. SAT or ACT scores are not required for admission, although submitting higher-level test scores may help students qualify for higher-level English and/or mathematics courses.
