Doctor of Physical Therapy

The CSULB DPT program is a 3-year curriculum consisting of 9 semesters, including summers, totaling 116 units. Successful completion of all courses, clinical experiences, and the doctoral project prepares graduates to take the licensing examination to be a practicing physical therapist.
Only students accepted into the Doctor of Physical Therapy program may register for DPT clinical education courses. Clinical Education includes internships and on-site integrated clinical experiences.
By the end of their degree program, graduates shall be able to:

Demonstrate comprehension of the foundational, behavioral and clinical sciences for application to the physical therapy clinical setting.
Demonstrate the assessment and intervention skills of an entry-level doctoral physical therapist.
Adhere to principles of critical thinking and evidence-based practice in clinical decision making.
Communicate to a diverse population in a manner consistent with the APTA Core Values and Code of Ethics in professional and clinical settings.
Adhere to the ethical and legal standards of physical therapy practice.

Hold, or be eligible to hold, an acceptable baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association or have completed equivalent academic preparation as determined by an appropriate campus authority, by the end of the spring semester prior to admission to the program.
Have attained a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (A=4.0),
Have been in good academic, professional, and clinical standing at the last institution and if applicable in the last entry-level physical therapist educational program attended,
Successfully have completed the following courses with a minimum of \u201cC\u201d and a minimum grade point average of 3.0 by the end of the fall semester prior to the year of admission to the program.
