Associate in Arts in Art

The Contra Costa College Studio Arts Program is designed to give students the theoretical and practical foundation necessary to pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drawing, painting, design, ceramics, photography, or sculpture. An Associate in Arts Degree may be earned by completing a minimum of 60 units of degree credit coursework, including the major requirements and breadth requirements, with a minimum grade point average of 2.0. Students must complete all courses required for the major with a grade of C or better.

Possible Careers in ART- Painter, printmaker, sculptor, art director, cartoonist, fashion artist, police artist, advertising production manager, art conservationrestorer, designer (industrial, textile, videofilm producer, videofilm editor, multimedia artist, multimedia producer, jewelry, furniture, fashion, stage, sets), graphic artist, commercial artist illustrator, display worker, art museum curatortechnician, art appraiser, antique dealer, architect, library assistant, art dealersalesperson, set decorator and arts educator.

To qualify for admission, a student must be a high school graduate (or its equivalent) or be 18 years of age or older.
