The College of Computing & Informatics offers an on-campus PhD in Information Science program, designed to foster the development of creative and interdisciplinary researchers with a strong foundation in information science, data science, and human-centered computing. The program's emphasis is on education and research that contribute to the advancement of all sectors of society. Students receive comprehensive support to achieve academic excellence through seminars, supervised study, and independent research. The program has two primary objectives: acquiring profound expertise in a specialized research area and developing interdisciplinary breadth to facilitate innovative scholarship. Graduates of the program are prepared for leadership and research positions in academia, industry, administration, and policy settings.A doctorate is the highest degree awarded in the College of Computing & Informatics (CCI). While working on a PhD in Information Science, students collaborate closely with a faculty advisor to define a research topic, master research skills and literature, and become one of the world’s experts in their area of study.
