Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming)

The Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming) prepares you for careers in software development, web development, application programming and database development. Designed for aspiring programmers, career changers and school leavers, you'll develop practical programming skills in JavaScript, C#, SQL, HTML and CSS while designing, building, testing and maintaining software using industry-standard tools including GitHub and Visual Studio Code. You'll also learn how AI-assisted development can support coding, debugging, testing and documentation while building the knowledge to understand, review and improve AI-generated code. Through hands-on programming projects, you'll build a professional portfolio that prepares you for entry-level IT roles or further study in the Diploma of Information Technology. Programming is one of the most AI-accelerated fields you can enter right now. The developers building the fastest, shipping the most, and landing the best roles are not the ones avoiding AI tools. They are the ones who understand the code well enough to use them properly. This course gives you that foundation across the full programming stack: JavaScript for the web, C# for applications and data systems, and SQL for databases. You will work with experienced teachers, with every session recorded on Brightspace so you can attend in person, join live via WebEx, or catch up later. Hackathon events and TechTalk sessions with industry professionals run throughout the year.

Successful completion of VCE Year 11, or an equivalent overseas qualification. Students must be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of the course.
