Bachelor of Science in Statistical Science

Increasingly, the decision-making process in science, medicine, business, public policy and beyond is data-driven. By integrating mathematical foundations and statistical thinking with computational proficiency, statistical science students at Marquette are prepared to understand and help make sense of our rapidly evolving world. Statistical science majors will graduate ready to tackle big data, perform statistical analysis to detect hidden patterns in data, perform risk factor analysis and perform predictive analysis. Statistical science students receive training in statistical reasoning, computing, analysis of statistical studies, exploration of unstructured data and development of the necessary skills for collaboration and teamwork. Students are equipped with quantitative skills that they can employ and build upon in flexible ways, allowing them to succeed in the high-demand, rapidly growing, data-dependent workforce, or go on to advanced studies in graduate school. Based in the research-active, interdisciplinary and computationally oriented department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, the statistical science program provides ample opportunities for students to go beyond the classroom with undergraduate research projects.
