Admission requirements Individual program admission requirements over and above admission to NAU are required. Complete the Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS) application. List of courses taken in the field. Prerequisite Coursework Foundational Science/Statistics Course Requirements The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) 2020 Certification Standards (IV-A) require that applicants for the Certificate of Clinical Competence must have demonstrated knowledge of the statistics as well as the biological sciences, physical sciences, and social/behavioral sciences. At the time of program admission, you must have at least one 3 unit course in each of the following areas: Biological Sciences. Lab not required. Human or animal sciences, e.g., biology, human anatomy and physiology, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, human genetics, and veterinary science. The introductory course for Biology majors (BIO 181 in Arizona universities) will meet this requirement. Chemistry or Physics. Lab not required. Social/Behavioral Sciences e.g., psychology, sociology, anthropology. Statistics - course with "statistics" in the title. Research methodology will not fulfill this requirement. Admitted students are expected to have undergraduate educational experiences, including general education studies, that are similar to those required for a baccalaureate at Northern Arizona University. Applicants who have earned their degree(s) from an international institution must submit official transcripts directly from the university or college. The transcripts must be in the original language of the country accompanied by an English translation.
