Diploma in Community Recreation

Recreation plays a key role in promoting healthy living and quality of life for individuals and communities. In this program, you combine classroom theory with practical learning experiences, giving you the foundational knowledge required to excel in this field.

You build a broad knowledge base in the areas of health and wellness, outdoor recreation, community and sport, and therapeutic and fitness programming. Upon graduation, you have an understanding of the leisure service/recreation delivery system, and federal and provincial recreation and health strategies.

Graduates find employment opportunities in sport, recreation programs and leisure services available across the province.
Employers may include municipal recreation departments, First Nation communities, schools, community sport and recreation facilities, outdoor recreation companies, seniors centres/facilities, etc.

Copy of Statement of Marks/Mark Sheet for Grade 12. School-issued transcripts/records with marks are not acceptable. Official transcripts \u2013 You must submit your official transcript(s) for courses required for admission. International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS Academic Test) \u2013 minimum score of 6.0 on each test (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking). Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) \u2013 minimum test scores of 80 on the Internet-Based Test (TOEFL\u00ae iBT), 60 on the Paper-Delivered Test, or 550 on the Paper-Based Test. Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTest) \u2013 average score of 4.5. Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) \u2013 minimum Level 8 on each test. Canadian Language Benchmarks Placement Test (CLBPT) is not accepted. Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) \u2013 minimum Band 60. Michigan English Test (MET) \u2013 minimum score 59.
