Master of Social Work (Advanced Standing)

For those who have already completed a bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW), Quinnipiac’s MSW Advanced Standing Program can provide the edge needed to succeed. To qualify, students must have a BSW conferred from a CSWE-accredited program prior to beginning the MSW Advanced Standing program in the fall.

Students immediately dive into our specialized curriculum, where they complete two semesters of coursework alongside 700 hours of field education (total of 30 credits). Students may complete this curriculum in one academic year by studying full-time or within 2 years if they choose to study part-time. Students in both plans of study will be required to complete 30 hours of interprofessional education offered by the Quinnipiac Center for Interprofessional Health Care Education by the time they graduate. The program can be completed online or on campus.

Student graduates from the MSW Advanced Standing program are eligible to sit for the LMSW license exam and are prepared for jobs in a full range of clinical social work positions, including jobs in aging services, healthmentalsubstance abuse, child and family welfare and justice, or school social work.

To be eligible to apply for admission, applicants must:

have earned a bachelor of social work prior to the beginning of the MSW Advanced Standing program in early July from a BSW program accredited by the Council on Social Work (CSWE).

have earned grades of B or better in all BSW courses*

*Applicants to the advanced standing program may be admitted conditionally if their GPA or BSW course grades do not meet the required admission criteria. Such cases will be considered on an individual basis by the admissions committee. Students who are admitted conditionally must earn at least a 3.0 their first term to continue in the advanced standing program as a fully accepted student.

PTE: Minimum score of 57
