Entry requirements for Royal College of Art
The programme welcomes applications from candidates from across the world and of all ages, including those with academic and professional backgrounds.Applications are considered in terms of quality of proposal, quality of practice (where appropriate), readiness to undertake a research degree at this level and supervisory capacity.Portfolio requirements-Although a portfolio is not compulsory, you are encouraged to submit one as a showcase of your creative and systematic thinking evidenced by practice and reflections. Your portfolio helps us to better understand your motivation, skills, abilities, interests, and learning style. If you decide to submit a portfolio, it should be no more than 10 pages (3-5 projects) that illustrate your past work, and practices and capabilities supporting your research proposal (20MB PDF max). These can be drawn from a wide range of project types (e.g., degree projects, personal projects, voluntary projects, research projects, work practices) - they do not need to be relevant to art or design, but you should communicate them in an engaging, visual way.
