Bachelor of Arts in Spanish/Master of Education in Secondary Education

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Temple University prepares students for the pluralistic, globalized society of the 21st century. As a student, you’ll benefit from rigorous language training and a liberal arts education. Through instruction in the languages, cultures and literatures of Spain, Spanish America and the Luso-Brazilian world, students acquire bilingual competency in the quintessential liberal arts skills: clear written and oral communication, problem-solving competencies and real-world experience. Specialized courses in business, criminal justice, and medical Spanish and translationinterpretation skills complement a robust array of language and literature courses. The result is that majors and non-majors are both able to tailor their learning towards their professional and intellectual goals. This Plus1 Accelerated Program offers Spanish undergraduate majors in the College of Liberal Arts the exciting opportunity to complete their undergraduate degree AND, then, in the year following, a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education. The master's program meets the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s program requirements for Teacher Certification in Spanish (Grades PreK-12).

Your application must include all official and original academic records from any secondary school you have ever attended.If you are attending a secondary school curriculum that is four years, Temple University reviews grades nine through 11 as well as your current progress in 12th grade (term/quarter/semester/predicted) or your final transcript if you completed secondary school. If you are attending a secondary school curriculum that is only three years, we strongly recommend you submit the final year of your primary school as well. If you are admitted to Temple and you have submitted your enrollment deposit, you must have your secondary school send your final transcript or proof of graduation to Temple.Need help determining what satisfies proof of graduation Please contact the International Admissions office.
