Today’s law graduates need to be equipped with an agile mindset, and the ability to draw on legal and non-legal insights to solve multi-faceted problems, amidst unprecedented change, shifting client expectations and rapid technological advancements. The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is one of the most reputable law programs in Australia, highly regarded overseas and your first step towards admissions as a legal practitioner in NSW. Focused on the modern legal environment, you will develop the complex problem solving and analytical skills required to meet the challenges of a contemporary global landscape. The Bachelor of Arts (BA) offers broad choice across more than 45 subject areas, allowing you to build a solid foundation in another area(s), and gain a unique perspective. You study the BA over three years and complete the equivalent of the first year of the LLB at the same time. In years four and five, you will take the remaining compulsory and elective units of the LLB respectively. If you wish to complete honours, you may do so in your fourth year of study, deferring your remaining law units until your fifth year of study.Learn to read works of immense cultural and literary significance by the iconic writers of ancient Rome. Latin is the direct ancestor of nearly 50 modern languages and a major contributor to the vocabulary of many others, including English. It was also the language of European literature, history, science, medicine, diplomacy and law for nearly 2000 years. The Latin major opens up intellectual vistas vital for exploring the past or navigating the present. A major in Latin gives you an advanced ability to read and critically analyse Latin literature. You will study a wide variety of important works from key periods in the development of this hugely influential literature, gaining an understanding of its themes, preoccupations and Roman cultural significance. Linguistic ability is developed as you progress through a series of units that introduce, practise and then analyse in context Latin morphology and syntax. You may begin either at 1000 level, if you have no prior knowledge of Latin, or at 2000 level if you have studied Latin previously to HSC-level (or equivalent). The culmination of the major is in-depth study and a nuanced appreciation of celebrated Roman authors. This major will open pathways to careers in journalism, law, publishing, teaching, government and research, among others.
