MSc Data Analytics

This online course will help you analyse and understand the large data sets that are regularly being created via the huge growth in freely available online information. There is an increasing demand for graduates with these valuable skills in a wide range of industries, and currently a shortage of qualified graduates. There are no lectures to attend as the courses are delivered completely online.
Students will be given videos, online demonstrations, and interactive games to enhance their learning, with regular feedback and interaction with course tutors. This provides flexibility to students who can learn wherever they like at a pace that suits them. Examinations will take place in an online format (subject to review in future years)

Applicants will be required to hold a 2.1 honours degree (NFQ Level 8 or equivalent), preferably with a social sciences or cognate discipline component, and excellent academic references.

This programme includes core modules from Computer Science, which is a mathematical subject involving logical understanding and reasoning and therefore applicants must be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of mathematics.

Students whose first language is not English will need a recognised English language qualification. On the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) students will need to achieve an average score of 6.5 over all components and a minimum of 6.0 in each band on the Academic Version.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) administered by Princeton University:

A minimum score of 600 in the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), with Test of Written English at 475 +; a minimum score of 90 is required in the Internet based TOEFL (iBT) with a score of at least 20 in each section.

Cambridge Examinations: English language examinations administered by the University of Cambridge: 176+ on Cambridge English scale (with no less than 169 in each skill and use of English)

Acceptable Examinations:

• Proficiency Certificate, Grade C (i.e. CEFR Level C1 or C2).
• Advanced Certificate, Grade C (i.e. CEFR Level C1 or C2)
• First Certificate, Grade A (i.e. CEFR Level C1)

Pearson English Language Text: Minimum of 63 and at least 59 for each item of both skills profiles.
