PhD - Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics

As a Ph.D. candidate, you'll be encouraged to pursue research in a broad range of areas of mathematics, including algebra and geometry; analysis; applied mathematics; mathematics education; and probability and statistics. Our Ph.D. students often teach their own sections of mathematics classes and have numerous opportunities for outreach and service. The program includes an early research training experience in the second year and a new professional development requirement designed to help students develop professional and leadership skills. Our faculty are internationally recognized for creation, application and teaching of mathematics.
