Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.)

The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine offers a four-year full-time program (curriculum) leading to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) degree. The first three years are taught at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, VA in a case-based and traditional lecturelaboratory format. At the end of the first year, students choose a track - small animal, food animal, equine, mixed species and publiccorporate veterinary medicine. Considerable flexibility exists for a student to tailor their curriculum to meet individual needs and interests. The senior year (clinical) is 12 months in length. The Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine's Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program is designed to develop competent and confident graduates capable of entering the profession with day-one knowledge, skills, and abilities, and a passion for lifelong learning. Our curriculum combines basic and applied sciences through integrated courses based on function, emphasizes team-based learning, and offers early entry to clinics. We're preparing the next generation of veterinary experts and leaders who are ready to protect and enhance the health of animals, people, and communities.
