Doctor of Philosophy in Management

The PhD in management prepares you to become a scholar capable of teaching and conducting research related to the management of organizations by helping you build competence in the foundation areas of research methodology (including statistics) and economics or behavioral sciences. You’ll choose a major area of concentration—accounting, finance, hospitality and tourism management, management science, marketing, or sport management—and an allied area of minor concentration to hone your studies to your unique interests. You’ll gain the hands-on experience you need by designing, executing, and completing a significant research project, as well as teaching in your area of interest.

All applicants are expected to be graduates of an accredited American college or university or a foreign institution determined to be equivalent, and to have achieved acceptable grade point averages in all prior undergraduate and graduate studies. Applicants must submit scores on either the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Records Examination (GRE). Applicants must complete a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association; or complete an international degree that is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a college or university recognized and approved by the Ministry of Education or commission responsible for higher education in the country where the degree is earned.Personal statementResumeTwo letters of recommendationTranscriptsGMAT or GRE General Test (waivers may apply).
