Master of Science in Computer Science & Information Systems

The Master of Science in Computer Science and Information Systems program at the University of Michigan-Flint offers students a comprehensive understanding of computing principles. Available in both online and on-campus formats, the program provides flexibility and two concentration options: Computer Science and Information Systems, allowing students to tailor their studies to their career objectives.
Designed to accommodate students without a computer science background, the program offers non-credit certificates in Algorithms, Programming, and Data Structures to help them meet foundational requirements. Through rigorous coursework, graduates are equipped for leadership roles in technology, including positions as administrators, analysts, designers, developers, or programmers.
Additionally, UM-Flint students have the option to enroll in the Joint BSMS program in Computer Science & Information Systems. This integrated curriculum allows students to earn both undergraduate and graduate credits simultaneously, expediting the completion of their bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Minimum overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants who do not meet the minimum GPA requirements may be offered admission. Admission in such cases will depend heavily on other indices of the student’s ability to handle graduate-level work. These might include strong performance on GPA in the major and/or other experiences that are clearly indicative of strong academic ability. Applicants with a three-year bachelor’s degree from an institution outside of the U.S. are eligible for admission at the University of Michigan-Flint if the course-by-course credential evaluation from the World Education Services report clearly states the three-year degree completed is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree.
