Build on your previous studies and take your design ambitions further with the Interior Architecture & Spatial Design Top-Up course at the University of Northampton.
The spaces we inhabit shape how we feel, interact and experience the world. This course offers you the opportunity to extend your existing design skills, develop your individual creative approach and explore how thoughtful spatial design can improve the way people live, work and connect.
You’ll strengthen your ability to research, develop and communicate design proposals that respond to social, environmental and cultural challenges. Through increasingly independent project work, you’ll bring together creative thinking, technical understanding and professional awareness to create meaningful, sustainable environments.
Building on your prior learning, you’ll refine your skills in spatial design, visual communication, CAD, 3D modelling, construction detailing and material specification. You’ll also explore emerging technologies, including augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), to visualise, experience and present your ideas in immersive ways.
Engagement with live briefs and commercial and community-focused design challenges will help you apply your knowledge to practical situations, strengthen your design decisions and deepen your understanding of professional practice.
Working in dedicated studios and specialist workshops, you’ll be supported by experienced tutors and professionals with industry connections as you develop your confidence and identity as a designer.
By graduation, you’ll have developed a professional portfolio that builds on your previous achievements and demonstrates your readiness for the next stage of your career. Whether your ambition is to enter interior architecture or spatial design practice, contribute to community-focused projects or progress to postgraduate study, the course will help you move forward with a clear creative direction.
