Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology

The School of Psychology offers graduate programs leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and an M.A. in Experimental Psychology. In the Phd, the following programs are offered in Clinical Psychology and Experimental Psychology with the following fields approved by the Ontario Council on Graduate Studies: Clinical PsychologySocial Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Cognition , Behavioural NeurosciencesThe objective of this program is to train researchers in experimental psychology with emphasis on one of the following areas: behavioural neurophysiology, psychopharmacology, psychophysiology, human and animal cognition, learning, language, sleep and dreams, social, cognitive and emotional development, perception, intergroup relations, motivation, and the social psychology of health and work.The clinical psychology program is fully accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). The purpose of this generalist program is to provide doctoral training in the area of clinical psychology. Students are prepared to work with adults andor children, youth, and families. Students also have the option to complete a Concentration in Child and Family Psychological Services.Professional training includes exposure to cognitive-behavioural, process-experiential, interpersonal, systemic, and community consultation approaches. Thesis supervisors within the clinical program have expertise in a number of research areas related to mental health. These include, but are not limited to, the following: anxiety and affective disorders; child and youth attention-deficithyperactivity disorder; child behavioural difficulties and child-parent relationships; childhood trauma and trauma-related disorders in children, youth, and adults; psychotherapy process; relationship science and couple therapy; sexuality and sexual health; health psychology and coping with chronic illness; forensic psychology; community psychology; program evaluation; technology and media.

Have a master\u2019s degree in Human Kinetics or a related discipline with a minimum average of 75% (B+) calculated in accordance with the general regulations in effect for graduate studies.
