Bachelor of Arts in Audio Arts and Technology

The audio and music engineering (BS) and audio arts and technology (BA) programs are undergraduate degrees offered within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Our mission is to provide a diverse population of students with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to become leaders in the emerging fields of audio and music engineering and audio arts technology. Experiential learning, hands-on design, and the creative process are at the core of our programs. We train our students to identify and solve problems systematically, to think creatively in both artistic and technical dimensions, and to recognize the role of engineering in modern society.The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers a BS in Audio and Music Engineering and a BA in Audio Arts and Technology.A BA in audio arts and technology (AAT) provides students with the creative and expressive abilities and technical skills to build productive careers in many fields in which sound and audio are central including:Music recording and media productionSound design for media and gamesLive event supportBroadcastingAcoustic analysis and design of the built and natural environmentsConsumer product design and developmentThe program offers a high degree of flexibility to enable students to combine studies in music, business and economics, media studies, studio arts, English and film studies, biology, psychology, or other areas that interest the student.InternshipsAudio and music engineering (AME) majors are strongly encouraged to participate in industry internships. In general, internships cannot be used for academic credit. Students who wish to get credit for an internship must obtain prior approval from the AME undergraduate program chair.Audio arts and technology (AAT) majors should visit Handshake, the University's internship board, as well as visit the Greene Career Center internship website for information about opportunities.
