Doctor of Physical Therapy

Through education, scholarship, and service, the mission of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is to prepare students to be leaders in contemporary practice and to improve the human condition and the profession. The doctor in physical therapy (DPT) program at The University of Toledo is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The degree consists of 95 credit hours spanning 30 months beyond the bachelor’s degree. Upon successful completion of the doctor of physical therapy program, graduates are prepared for licensure and to practice within the field of physical therapy. Learning Outcomes PLO 1. Students will demonstrate the requisite knowledge and skills to practice safely and effectively as entry-level physical therapists. PLO 2. Students and graduates will demonstrate effective communication skills and professional behavior when interacting with patients, families, professional colleagues, and the public. PLO 3. Students and graduates will practice in a legal, ethical, and fair manner. PLO 4. Students and graduates will demonstrate a commitment to the profession through advocacy and community service. PLO 5. Graduates will engage in lifelong learning and professional development opportunities.

Degree: Must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. NOTE: It is not required to have a bachelor's degree at the time of application but it must be earned before beginning the DPT program.

GPA: Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30. Minimum prerequisite GPA of 3.0
