Bachelor of Music in Music Performance - Instrumental

The B.M. in Music Performance, Instrumental Program have extensive opportunities to develop skills as soloists and ensemble members. The Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Music Performance provides exceptional individualized applied studio instruction and offers comprehensive study in areas necessary to prepare for careers as performers, educators, arrangers, producers, and more. The curriculum includes multiple diverse ensemble offerings, and students may diversify their studies with elective classes and professional skills, such as audio and music production, composition and songwriting, and career development in music. The curriculum goes beyond traditional artistic training —incorporating a strong emphasis on innovation and an entrepreneurial mindset — and includes certificates or minors such as Audio Music Production, Non-Profit Leadership, and Digital Marketing Strategy within the degree program. For Admission to Bachelor and Associate Degree Programs, applicants whose education is from an English-medium secondary or post-secondary institution in certain countries (see below) are exempt from the standardized English proficiency testing requirement. A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 (U.S. 4.00 scale) based on your high school grades. All other applicants for whom English is a second language must present evidence of proficiency in the English language in one of the following ways - YSU will accept official English proficiency test scores on the following (YSU institution code is 1975, except the ACT code for YSU is 3368): TOEFL IBT - 67 IELTS - 6.0 (with at least 5.0 on each subscale). SAT - combined score of 920 or higher from the evidence-base writing and reading test and math test. ACT - composite score of 17 or higher (the ACT score for YSU is 3368).
