From sandy beaches to snow-capped mountainsTake advantage of your study breaks, and visit many of the exciting places around the UK – many of which are easy (and relatively cheap) to get to.Places to explore during your study breaks.

England

London is a bustling city, full of iconic landmarks including Big Ben, the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace. Beyond London, you can walk alongside one of the world’s most famous prehistoric monuments, Stonehenge, admire the scale of ancient Roman Britain at Hadrian’s Wall or simply explore the university towns of Cambridge and Oxford.

Scotland

Scotland has the cities of Edinburgh or Glasgow, and the beautiful highland mountains with plenty of holiday destinations to choose from. If you like golf there’s St Andrews, or if you like hilltop views and green parklands climb up Arthur’s Seat in the heart of Edinburgh.

Wales

You may not think of beaches when picturing the UK, but Wales has some beautiful coastline. Wales is home to Barafundle Bay – often voted one of the best (but not the warmest) beaches in the world. Alongside this Wales has snow-capped mountains and rugged landscapes.

Northern Ireland

The Giant’s Causeway is halfway between Northern Ireland’s characterful capital of Belfast and the walled city of Londonerry (Derry or ‘Legenderry’ to locals). The causeway, built by a giant (according to the myths and legends), is made up of tens of thousands of interlocking basalt columns that form ‘stepping stones’ towards the sea.
