What does the Pathway Student Visa already let you do?
Before these changes, the Pathway Student Visa already made it easier for international students to study more than one course in New Zealand.
Instead of applying for a new student visa every time you progressed to another course, you could study up to three consecutive courses under a single visa, provided they formed an approved study pathway.
The changes introduced on 20 July 2026 build on these existing benefits by giving students even more flexibility.
