West Africa Scholarship

For postgraduate students, the scholarship is tenable for one academic year.

For undergraduate students, the scholarship amount is available for each year of undergraduate study. This is subject to successful progression to each academic year, up to a maximum of £8,000 (GBP).

To be eligible for this award, you must be:

• domiciled in Benin, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo at the time of application. If you are applying from another country in this region, please refer to our Sub-Saharan Africa Scholarship.
• self-funding your course
• studying a full-time, on campus course
• meet the entry criteria for a bachelors or taught masters course in September 2026 and January 2027.
• successfully progressing to each year of study to claim the award as an undergraduate student (up-to a maximum award of £8,000).

Please note – If you have discounted tuition fees from a partner university or are in receipt of another scholarship, you are not eligible for this scholarship. MRes programmes are not eligible for this award.
