GREAT Scholarship

This is a competitive process, and only one application per country will be successful. A panel of senior staff from the University will select the successful scholarship awardees.

Applicants will be assessed based on a written application and prior academic merit. Strong preference will be given to applicants with the strongest academic record (for example, a UK first class degree or equivalent).

Please note that applicants must be permanent residents and passport holders of China, Indonesia, Malaysia or Kenya.

Eligibility

Open to students from China, Indonesia, Kenya and Malaysia.

To be considered for the scholarship, you must

be a permanent resident and passport holder of China, Indonesia, Malaysia or Kenya

be paying fees at the overseas fee rate (any fee assessments must be completed by Monday 11 May 2026)

have met any language condition of your offer by Monday 11 May 2026

have a conditional or unconditional offer to study a one-year postgraduate taught course at the University of York by Monday 11 May 2026 (you don't need to have accepted the offer).

You will not be eligible if

you hold a 100% tuition fee scholarship or are fully sponsored

you are a current student of the University of York, having started your studies in a previous year
