McMaster University was founded in 1887 in Toronto .The University’s purpose is the discovery, communication and preservation of knowledge. In the teaching, research and scholarship, it is committed to creativity, innovation and excellence. From its inception the University’s aim has been to develop and realize the potential both of individuals and of society at large.
McMaster is comprised of six faculties, the De Groote School of Business, and the Faculties of Engineering, Health Sciences, Humanities, Science, and Social Sciences. With a total full time student population of close to 28,000, McMaster welcomes students from 98 countries as well as Canada.
McMaster's main campus, located in the Westdale neighbourhood of Hamilton, Ontario, is comprised of 300 acres of scenic property at the western end of Lake Ontario, between Toronto and Niagara Falls. It’s 30 acre central core is designated for pedestrians and bicyclists.
