Doctor of Nursing Practice (BSN-DNP)

The School of Nursing is transitioning away from the Master of Science in Nursing to a BSN-to-DNP program. The program focuses on five Nurse Practitioner Specialty area:
Adult-Gerontology Acute Care
Adult-Gerontology Primary Care
Family Primary Care
Pediatric Primary Care
Psychiatric-Mental Health (across the lifespan).
CSULB School of Nursing has discontinued its participation in the CSU Consortium for the MSN-to-DNP program at this time. Additionally, post-MSN graduate certificates for additional specialties or nurse practitioner credential are not available currently.

A master’s degree, from an accredited institution, in nursing or a health related field (i.e., public health, or health administration) and national certification as an APRN (CNM, CNS, CRNA or NP) (direct care track),

OR

A master’s in nursing from an accredited institution in nursing leadership or administration, nursing education, or community health nursing (indirect care track).

A grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in overall graduate course work.
Master’s level courses in Advanced Physical/Health Assessment, Advanced Pathophysiology, and Advanced Pharmacology (for the direct care track).
Master’s level courses in core nursing areas such as nursing theory, research, and transcultural nursing. Students with a degree other than nursing will be required to make up deficiencies in preparation.
