This program offers hands-on training in all aspects of filmmaking, from documentary and fiction film production to video journalism, cinematography, and editing. Students use cutting-edge equipment in Pace’s state-of-the-art communications center, including HD cameras, AVID and Adobe Creative Cloud systems, and dedicated sound stages and recording studios.
The curriculum blends aesthetic filmmaking with technical training, ensuring students gain comprehensive skills in areas of cinematography, lighting, screenwriting, and editing across multiple platforms. The BS in Digital Cinema and Filmmaking program combines the study of aesthetic filmmaking, technical training, and hands-on production in all aspects of digital filmmaking, providing you with start-to-finish knowledge of the process of making fiction and non-fiction films through courses including cinematography, lighting for HD, editing on multiple platforms, screenwriting, and on-set procedures. Elective classes focus on major directors, themes like romantic comedy and women in film, scriptwriting, casting, and advanced technical skills like lighting, cameras, and editing.

Digital Cinema and Filmmaking (DCF) on the Pleasantville campus provides students with the real-world skills they need to achieve a successful career in he film industry. The DCF major prepares students for the professional world of cinema, television, news and web series production. The program combines the study of aesthetics filmmaking, technical training, and hands-on production in all aspects of digital filmmaking, providing students with start-to-finish knowledge of the process of making fiction and non-fiction films.
Note that both the BA and MA degrees are awarded at completion of the MA program.

All first-year students who apply to Pace University must submit an official high school transcript in English. When evaluating your application for undergraduate admission, we are interested in understanding how you challenged yourself relative to the curriculum that was available at your school and the trends in your performance—especially your grades in math, science, English and coursework related to your intended major.

We also consider the GPA (Grade Point Average) that is indicated on your high school transcript. We generally look for students in the top 50% of their class. For schools that don't use a ranking system, we consider a 2.5 GPA or higher to be the equivalent. Finally, the Office of International Admissions conducts a holistic review of each application that includes a careful review of the following documents; letters of recommendation, personal statement / essay, and extracurricular activities.
