If you love the English language and dream of sharing it with the next generation, start your career at Purdue University Northwest Our English bachelor's degree paired with a concentration in teaching prepares you to teach English in the public school system.As a student in the English teaching concentration, youll take a balance of general education courses, College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences core courses and English courses. Your teaching concentration courses are offered in conjunction with the School of Education and Counseling to prepare you for a career in teaching.
Plan your future in our first-year experience course. Then work one-on-one with caring, accomplished faculty mentors and grow your network by connecting with alumni and community members. Our recently revised curriculum emphasizes project-based learning and experiences, including group work and hands-on projects.
Students graduating from PNW with a degree in English Teaching are ready to get jobs in the field.
Students work with English faculty and the School of Education and Counseling. They receive a broad background in literature and writing and gain experience in the schools to prepare themselves for careers in education.

Applicants must have official high school transcript(s) or GED test score report.

Test scores: Internet Based TOEFL (iBT) - 79 or higher; IELTS with a score of at least 6.5 or higher; British O-Level English Language Exam with a Grade of A or B on Ordinary Level of GCE/GCSE/IGCSE. PNW Undergraduate Admissions accepts a 100-110 Duolingo English Test score band.
