Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing

Ph.D. admissions faculty at the School of Nursing evaluate all applications and may request interviews with applicants who meet the following criteria:

• Post-M.S.N. to Ph.D. - Master's degree in nursing from a program accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency
• Post B.S.N. to Ph.D. - Baccalaureate degree in nursing from a program accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency.
• Cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 system
• Satisfactory performance on the GRE General Test
• Current, unencumbered registered professional nurse licensure in the state/country of residence/employment or eligibility for licensure in the State of Missouri
• Evidence of high potential for scholarship and leadership in nursing

English Language Proficiency Requirements

To ensure a successful academic experience at Saint Louis University, we require international applicants to demonstrate they are proficient in the English language by submitting scores from any one of the following standardized tests:

IELTS minimum score of 6.5; Internet-based TOEFL (IBT) minimum score of 80; Paper-based TOEFL (PBT) minimum score of 550; PTE minimum score of 54; Duolingo minimum score of 125.

Application Deadlines

International students should apply by Feb. 1 for the summer and fall semesters, and by Sept. 1 for the spring semester.
