Master of Music in Performance (Piano)

Attain a high level of performance and professional development skills. Students in the performance degree program build on their existing skill set to become technically proficient and musically engaging performers ready to pursue doctoral programs or enter the professional music world. Personal attention from a supportive faculty within a collegial, friendly environment is a key component of the performance program. Setnor students are challenged to grow musically and are encouraged to think critically. The performance degree provides a rigorous curriculum that includes solo and ensemble performance opportunities in addition to courses in scholarly research, music theory, history and literature and pedagogy.

As an applicant to a Syracuse graduate program, you\u2019ll need to provide official documentation of having earned at least a U.S. bachelor\u2019s degree (or its equivalent) in another country. For the graduate emphasis in solo performance, applicants should present a representative recital program (a minimum of 40 minutes of music). Applicants auditioning for the collaborative arts emphasis should present a representative program of solo, vocal, and chamber music. Applicants should consult with the keyboard area coordinator to finalize repertoire choices.
