This pioneering one-year MSc bridges the gap between technical and financial expertise, by equipping engineers with business finance skills. Join us, and you can help change the way companies and governments around the world are engaging with the engineering and financial side of sustainable investing, energy, robotics, manufacturing and more. This MSc is the first of its kind to combine finance and engineering to meet industry demands for professionals with increasingly diverse knowledge and skillsets. This multidisciplinary Master’s, delivered by academics and researchers from UCL Mechanical Engineering, UCL Computer Science, and the UCL School of Management will prepare you to deliver creative projects on new and existing technologies with robust engineering and financial methodologies, addressing some of the most pressing global challenges. You’ll first develop a comprehensive array of modern mechanical engineering skills, with core modules in new and renewable energy systems, robotics, and optional specialisms such as advanced computational methods and materials science. You’ll then acquire the sophisticated financial understanding required to develop viable engineering solutions, learning to apply computational and data-driven methods to solve practical problems in engineering and finance, identify opportunities and spin out new technologies. Finally, you will have an opportunity to engage in substantial project work, both through an individual and a group design project. Here, you'll immerse yourself in engineering design, project management and finance tools and approaches, while developing research, teamwork and other transferable skills. These projects will allow you to put into practice all the diverse skills and knowledge you’ve acquired, and test them against real-world parameters, preparing you for a career in industry. The course is for students with a first degree in engineering, physics or applied mathematics, who wish to deepen their knowledge in engineering, project management and finance. It will prepare you for further research or for senior management positions in engineering, IT, business and finance. Some prior programming skills are recommended for this programme.
