Applicants are expected to meet specific academic conditions, which may be satisfied through a range of qualifications. For A Levels, a typical offer is BBB with a requirement to meet GCSE entry requirements in full; three A Levels are required, preferably including Biology, Psychology, or Sociology, with the Welsh Baccalaureate at grade B accepted in place of one A Level. General Studies is not accepted, though strong performance may be considered if conditions are not met. An Edexcel Level 3 Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) at grade A may be accepted alongside three A Levels, leading to a variable offer such as BBB or BBC plus an A in the EPQ. For GCSEs, applicants must hold at least five subjects at grade C/4 or above, including English, Mathematics, and a Science subject, with no Level 2 equivalents accepted. T Level applicants must also meet GCSE requirements and achieve a Merit overall with grade B in the Core in Health, Healthcare Science, or Science. BTEC qualifications are considered, including the Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or Applied Science at grades DDD, the Level 3 National Diploma when combined with an A Level (typical offer DD plus B), or the Level 3 National Extended Certificate when combined with A Levels (typical offer D plus BB). A CACHE Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care is accepted with a minimum overall grade B, including at least a grade B in mandatory units (Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care, Research Skills for Health and Social Care) and in the optional Pharmacology unit. For the International Baccalaureate Diploma, a total of 32 points with three Higher Level subjects at grade 5 is required, in addition to full GCSE requirements. Applicants with an Access to Higher Education Diploma (Health or Science) must achieve 60 credits, including a minimum of 45 at Level 3 with 30 at Distinction and 15 at Merit (covering Physiology or Biology), plus 15 credits at Level 2; courses must have been completed within the last two years. Where GCSEs were taken more than five years ago, candidates with at least two years of full-time paid health or social care experience are required to hold GCSE English, Mathematics, and Science at grade C or above. Graduate applicants must hold a minimum of a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree, or a Master’s or PhD, in addition to meeting GCSE entry requirements.
