Bachelor of Arts in English - Literature as History

The courses in the Literature as History (LH) specialization explore how literature reflects, illuminates, and imagines histories past, present, and future. Students pursuing this specialization will interrogate the relationships between texts and social, political, economic and cultural histories.
English BA is a broad introduction to American, British, and Anglophone literature. Majors develop essential professional skills, learning to write and speak well, think analytically and critically, persuasively engage audiences, and solve problems quickly. As an English major youll combinefoundation courses and electives to customize the major to your interests. While youre not required to choose a particular focus for upper-level courses, you may concentrate on one area of literature or choose a specialization in American studies, creative writing, professional writing and technical communication, digital humanities and games, environmental humanities, literature as history, social justice, the study and practice of writing, teaching the English language arts, or an individualized option.
