Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Education - Adult

The primary mission of the specialization in Adult, Continuing, and Higher Education Leadership (ACHEL) is to prepare individuals for leadership positions in urban adult, continuing, and higher educational organizations. The specialization will assist students to examine changing perspectives on urban postsecondary, adult and continuing educational organizations; changing notions of urban adult, continuing, and higher education teaching and learning; and the changing roles of the students, teachers, researchers, and administrators who work and study within urban adult, continuing, and higher education organizations.

All applicants must meet both the minimum Graduate School requirements and the minimum Urban Education Doctoral Program requirements. All program materials must be uploaded to the online application. Applicants must have an undergraduate GPA of 2.75. If you have repeated any coursework, the undergraduate GPA calculation includes both attempts in your repeated coursework. All applicants, including UWM students, must upload an official or unofficial transcript directly in the online application for all work done at higher education/post-secondary institutions. All applicants who are admitted to the Graduate School will be required to submit an official transcript with the degree posted within two weeks of the beginning of their first term of enrollment. You must have attended this institution for at least one year and the degree was earned at an institution in the United States, and you have lived and worked continuously in the U.S since earning the degree.
