Master of Science in Engineering - Chemical Engineering (Non Thesis Track)

The non-thesis plan is designed for students who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills to succeed in careers as practicing engineers, but are unlikely to pursue a PhD or doctorate degree. A total of 33 credit hours is required, consisting of core courses, technical courses and a graduate project course. The project course includes a presentation to the engineering faculty and students. For Graduate Admissions, please have the testing agency send official test scores directly to YSU if they are required for your program of interest (GRE, GMAT, MAT, TOEFL, IELTS, etc.). TOEFL score\u2014A minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test, 213 on the computer-based test, or 79-80 on the Internet-based (IBT) Test of English as a Foreign Language by graduates of foreign universities who are nonnative English speakers. (Scores over two years old by the beginning of the term applicants wish to enter are not acceptable.) Arrange with the Educational Testing Service to have your official TOEFL score sent to our office. Those students with below a 2.7 cumulative undergraduate GPA (Grade Point Average) will be asked to take the GRE or the MAT (Miller Analogies Test) per our Graduate School policy unless their program of interest has an alternative testing/GPA requirement. The College of Graduate Studies will accept the academic version of the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) as an alternative to the TOEFL exam for international students (A score of 6.5 on the IELTS test equates to a 550 on the paper-based TOEFL).
