5 Must-Have Apps for Future International Students

  • Published: 11 May 2024

The mere thought of becoming an international student can be both exciting and intimidating. But fear not—technology is here to assist you.

Here are some must-have apps if you’re looking to study internationally in the future:

1. Google Maps

Let’s start with the basics; getting around. Regardless of where you’re coming from, public transportation will at the very least be slightly different from the public transportation you’re used to back home. Google Maps shows you how to get from one place to another— whether that be through walking, car rides, or bus or train. Not only will it show you your estimated travel time for punctuality’s sake, but they also show the scheduled departure of trains and buses so you can plan your trip accordingly.

2. Calm

Going off to a new environment as a student will be stressful, to say the least. Keeping your mental health and your well-being in good shape should be of paramount importance to you. Calm offers programs for sleeping, meditation, and stress-relief. Even just spending a few minutes a day de-stressing can go a long way for you.

3. Class Timetable or ClassUp

Scheduling and organization are essential to students. And there’s no reason why they should be given any less importance for international students. Class Timetable and ClassUp make it aesthetically pleasing to have constant reminders about your classes and other major events in your schedule. They can be displayed as wallpapers or saved as separate images on your gadgets so you can easily check them whenever necessary.

4. My Weekly Budget App

Studying abroad is an expensive investment. The last thing you want is to have unmonitored expenses that leave you wondering where your money has gone. Budget trackers allow you to set goals for expenses weekly and record the amount of expenses and cash saved as well.

5. IDP Study Abroad App

If you haven’t already, you’ll need to apply as an international student first. The IDP Study Abroad App is perfect for this. You’ll have the opportunity to discern and compare courses depending on what fits your skillset and passion, while having an organized and user-friendly layout to help you track your applications.
