Scholarships and financial aid

Many schools in Australia offer scholarships for international students. There are also government-sponsored scholarships available that you can take advantage of. Either way, they regularly update their requirements and policies, so it’s best to visit the official website of each scholarship or program.

Australian Development Scholarships

The Australian Government Aid Program is offering Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) for Masters and Doctorate degree programs at Australian higher education institutions. 

Programs of study must relate to the following fields: Basic Education; Social Protection/Welfare; Peace and Development; Public Financial Management; Disaster Risk Reduction and Management; Climate Change Adaptation; Organisational Development/Human Resource Management and Development; Trade; Foreign Relations; Pandemics (Preparedness and Management).

Scholarship entitlements include pre-departure support, visa expenses, full tuition fees, roundtrip airfare, establishment allowance, cost of living expenses, introductory academic program, overseas student health cover, tutorial assistance if required, and fieldwork support for research students.

Australia Awards

The Australia Awards Scholarships have been an essential component of the Australian Government's aid program in the Philippines. It provides high-achieving Filipino development leaders with the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies in Australia’s premier academic institutions and contribute to Philippine development.

The Australian Government offers Australia Awards Scholarships on the basis of merit, transparency and equal access, and encourages applications from women and minority groups. Special consideration will be accorded to people with disability and those directly working with PWD-recognised organisations.

Australian Government Research Training Program

The RTP provides block grants, on a calendar year basis, to higher education providers (HEPs) to support both domestic and overseas students undertaking Research Doctorate and Research Masters degrees, known as higher degrees by research (HDRs). Applications for RTP Scholarships need to be made directly to participating universities. Each university has its own application and selection process, please contact your chosen university directly to discuss how to apply for the RTP scheme.

Students can be offered RTP scholarships for one or more of the following:

  • tuition fees offset
  • stipend for general living costs
  • allowances related to the ancillary cost of research degrees
