A foundation year program is a bridging pathway designed to prepare international students for universities. It’s a fast-track journey towards getting a degree, where students are put through a combination of academic modules and skills training.
Often, foundation students get to kick-start their study abroad experience in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the UK, providing a unique opportunity to learn and enjoy new experiences at the same time.
In fact, Singaporean students can already apply for foundation year with their O Level and prelim scores (yes, that’s right!), essentially bypassing the more conventional routes of junior colleges (A-Level), polytechnics (Diploma) and International Baccalaureate programs.
Better yet, foundation year programs can be as quick as eight months. If you do the math, you’ll be able to pursue your degree earlier and graduate at least one year ahead of your peers or up to three years depending on the course.
Foundation year is made up of modules that will prepare you for specific degree courses within relevant disciplines.
Often, these modules are carefully mapped out to equip students with relevant knowledge, helping them advance to their desired undergraduate courses once they’ve cleared program requirements.
