Master of Community Development

Acadia's Master of Community Development program is a small, innovative, and interdisciplinary two-year program. In this program, students work closely with a supervisor on their research and thesis, as well as take additional courses to supplement their research and expand their knowledge in the discipline. Students gain applied experience through a professional or teaching practicum that is an integral part of the program.Acadia's Master of Community Development program is intentionally kept small so that students receive highly focused attention from faculty mentors, allowing the program to be customized to student needs, interests, and research. Acadia’s small size facilitates access to faculty from related departments throughout the University for assistance with academic coursework and research. Our faculty are strongly connected with community organizations and with local centres of excellence focused on collaborations between university and community.

Where are you from:My province is:My province is:YOUR ADMISSION REQUIREMENTSFor admission to Acadia University:GPA ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIFIC INTERNATIONAL COUNTRIESAcadia’s minimum admission requirement is 2.67/4.0 GPA OR a 70% in the courses taken in the major field in the last two undergraduate years. To be eligible for an Acadia Graduate Scholarship/Acadia Graduate Teaching Assistantship [Internal Scholarship], you must possess a GPA of 3.0/4.0 in each of the last two years of study. If you are applying for an external scholarship, in most cases a 1 st Class Average is required. Acadia defined 1 st Class as 3.67/4.0 GPA. Please note that some departments/schools may have additional admission requirements.COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENTWe seek applications from excellent graduating and mature students with a range of Bachelor's degrees who are interested in an intensive, self-directed, and engaging program. The program is thesis-based and you will also complete a number of courses while working in close cooperation with faculty on your research project.
