Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction - Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies (Social Studies Education)

This program is designed for students who wish to work as professors who will prepare social studies teachers or to work as part of government agencies or nonprofit organizations focusing on social studies. As a student you'll work closely with faculty to become familiar with scholarship in the field, to undertake mentored and independent research projects, and to become part of the wider community of scholars. The program emphasizes areas such as preparation for democratic civic participation; history teaching and learning; gender, diversity, and equity in social education; and teacher education.
