Why United Kingdom

Reasons to pursue education in the UK

Wherever in the world you choose to pursue your career, a degree from a university in the United Kingdom is internationally respected and considered as a mark of quality education. This impression is backed up by numbers; with the UK producing 14% of the world’s most cited academic papers and 5% of the world’s scientific research. These figures are all the more impressive considering the countries that comprise the United Kingdom are home to just 1% of the world’s population. Choosing to study overseas at a UK university has many financial, cultural and social advantages as well. Here are six good reasons for you to consider studying in the UK.

Excellent education

UK academic standards are among the best in the world. With notable luminaries such as Ernest Rutherford (the father of nuclear physics) to Oscar Wilde (acclaimed Irish writer and playwright), The UK has a long and proud tradition of education, with some of its universities having roots in the 12th and 13th centuries. The UK also offers a diverse and flexible range of courses in globally ranked institutions.

Universities are monitored closely to ensure that they uphold the highest standards of teaching, learning and research. They also work hard to ensure a safe, caring and supportive environment for all international students. It is no surprise that out of the global top 10 of QS World University Rankings 2018, four UK universities are featured. Further down the top 10, 24 UK universities have incredibly ranked in the top 200.

Quick course completion

Courses in the UK education system are shorter and more intensive than many other countries. An undergraduate course takes just three years and a postgraduate program takes only a year to complete. This means you will graduate sooner without compromising quality. Shorter course terms enable you to fast track your professional career, and of course it will also save you money in tuition fees and living costs.

The economy

The United Kingdom’s economy is huge. In fact, it’s the sixth largest in the world and has enjoyed steady economic growth until the current world economic downturn. In essence though, businesses are still growing and people are finding work.

Healthcare

Not every country in the world has a solid healthcare system. In fact, very few have a National Health Service (NHS) like the UK. Legal residents in the UK have access to free healthcare. International students can access the NHS upon payment of the International Health Surcharge (IHS).

Culture

There are few places with such a rich culture as the UK. With its mixed ethnic population and a long and interesting history, it is a fascinating place to explore.

Geographically well placed

The UK is is an ideal base from which to explore the history and culture of Europe. Low-cost airlines operate from UK airports, and international students from many countries are able to apply for an EU Schengen visa to allow short trips across 24 countries in Europe.
