Transport

Travelling from A to B with ease

While you’re studying, you may want to explore your local town, city or other parts of New Zealand and there are many options to take you there.

Depending on where you’re going and your current location, your transport options include buses, taxis, ferries, planes, cars, bikes and of course, walking. Buses are the most common form of public transport in New Zealand and this service is widely available.

If you prefer to drive, you will be required to hold a valid driving licence and appropriate insurance, and ensure you have a registered vehicle before hitting the road.

Another way you can travel is by cycling, but it’s important to understand the rules and wear a helmet at all times. When riding at night, you must have a front white light and red rear light for your bicycle, and wear reflective clothing.

You can also opt to fly between major cities in New Zealand. Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch all have their own airport.
