If in previous years, IELTS scores were the graduation standard for bachelor's and college degrees in Vietnam, since 2018, a number of universities have started using this certificate for admission, expanding admission options following the trend of international universities in developed countries.
Every year, more than 2 million candidates take the IELTS test worldwide. IELTS is the most important and popular English proficiency test in the world for the purpose of studying, working and settling abroad. IELTS test results are recognized by more than 10,000 educational institutions and recruitment agencies in more than 45 countries - typically Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the US...
With the new admission method, many universities in Vietnam have implemented a combination of admission between the average academic score of high school years and IELTS test scores in this year's admission season. Specifically, the subjects that the University considers for admission include candidates who:
Completed the 2023 national high school graduation exam
Have a score of 2 subjects/exams in the school's admission subject group (not including the Foreign Language subject)
Have an IELTS international English certificate that is valid as of the date of application submission with a score of 6.5 or higher (or depending on the requirements of each school)
Submitting an IELTS certificate for admission to University is one of the innovations in the admission conditions for Universities in Vietnam and is applied to a variety of majors to approach the admission methods of Universities around the world. In addition, this is also an advantage for students when they are exempted from English subjects throughout 4 years of university.
For more details and deadline for submitting IELTS certificates for admission to University, candidates can refer to the announcement of the 2023 admission plan at Universities nationwide.
In addition, there are many reasons why students should choose to take the IELTS exam such as:
According to the decision of the Ministry of Education and Training, students with an IELTS certificate of 4.0 or higher are exempted from taking the foreign language exam during the graduation process through the 2023 national high school exam (IELTS certificate must be valid until June 30, 2023) and are exempted from studying English at many universities and colleges if they achieve an IELTS score of 4.0 to 5.0.
