The University of Alabama

The university is located in Tuscaloosa and serves as the flagship university of Alabama. It ranks as high as #65 among public schools in the U.S. and boasts research funding of $500 million. Notably, it also offers a joint program with NASA Research & Development Projects.

Under the university's slogan, "Where Legends Are Made," many of its alumni have earned the status of "Legends." Notable examples include the CEO of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the CEO of Dr Pepper, a Chief Engineer at Google, the Founder of Wikipedia, and the Founder of the Discovery Channel.

The university offers scholarships for international students at the undergraduate level, covering up to 100% of tuition fees for four years for those enrolling in the Spring, Fall, and Summer 2024 intakes.

There are two types of scholarships available, each with specific eligibility criteria based on GPA, SAT/ACT scores, and application deadlines, as detailed below:

2025 International Freshman Automatic Merit Scholarships

This is an automatic scholarship that does not require an essay for application. However, students must submit SAT/ACT scores to be considered. The scholarship eligibility is determined based on GPA and SAT/ACT scores, with the scholarship value outlined in the following chart.

Applying for Fall/Summer Intake (August or June)

Students must submit their GPA and ACT or SAT scores that meet the requirements by the end of December. To be considered for the scholarship evaluation, it is recommended to complete the application process by May 1.

2025 International UA Competitive Admissions Scholarship

This scholarship does not require SAT/ACT scores; however, students must submit an essay as part of the application. The university will evaluate scholarship eligibility based on high school GPA and academic honors, including leadership experience, volunteer work, extracurricular activities, employment, and non-academic achievements.

The scholarship value can be up to $6,000 as a tuition discount.

Required Documents for Application

  1. Application Fee – Non-refundable application fee of $40 for undergraduate programs at The University of Alabama.

  2. Copy of Passport – A valid passport copy.

    1. GED Equivalency Certificate – For students who have completed or passed the equivalency test for high school (M.6).

  3. Certificate of Attendance – For students currently in high school, OR a High School Certificate for graduates.

  4. High School Transcript – Official academic records from high school.

  5. Proof of English Proficiency – IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, or Duolingo scores.

  6. SAT/ACT Scores (Optional) – Required only if applying for the 2025 International Freshman Automatic Merit Scholarships.

  7. Essay / Statement of Purpose (Optional) – Required for students applying for the

    2025 International UA Competitive Admissions Scholarship.
