Ideal time to apply for study abroad

The deadline for applying to study abroad depends on the country you are looking to study in and depends on which admission period you apply for (early decision or regular decision).

The following IDP will list the important milestones that you need to pay attention to during the application process to universities in the US, UK, and Australia.

Deadline for applying to study in the US

First, if you're dreaming of studying in the U.S., a small note is that you'll need to prepare a lot of things, including letters of recommendation and a personal essay.

Most universities in the U.S. will consider your SAT score (unlike universities in the U.K. that use A-level test results), so you'll need to prepare for the SAT before applying to study in the U.S. In some cases, universities will require you to take the ACT and AP to complete your application.

Important deadlines you need to remember to apply to study in the U.S.:

- The Regular Decision (RD) admission period (the most popular admission period) will open applications from January 1 to February 1.

- The Early Decision (ED) admission period will open applications from November 1 to November 11.

- The Rolling Admission (RA) period will be subject to the decision of the universities.

The IDP recommends that you prepare your U.S. study abroad application 3 months before the application closing date.

Deadline for applying to study in the UK

Most UK universities will require you to submit a personal statement in your study abroad application, but you will not have to take standardized exams such as the SAT in the US.

If you're looking to pursue Medicine or Dentistry in the UK, the application period for these courses usually opens in early September and closes in mid-October, similar to courses at Oxford and Cambridge universities.

For courses at other universities, the application deadline will fall in mid-January. It's best to take a close look at the application deadline of the university you're looking to attend, and pay attention to other school requirements, such as whether you have to take any additional tests.

IDP recommends that you start preparing your UK study abroad application 2 months before the end of the admissions period.

Deadline for applying to study in Australia

Students studying in Australia will have to submit a Statement of Purpose, resume, certificates from schools in Vietnam, 2 letters of reference, IELTS transcripts, and a copy of their birth certificate.

In Australia, universities usually have 3 admission periods February, July, and November. For international students, the application deadline falls in October, May, and September.

Your application will be processed by the university within 4-6 weeks.

If you are on your way to realizing your dream of studying in Australia, prepare your application 7 months before the application deadline.

Applying early will help you increase your advantage compared to others, be approved for applications and student visas earlier and more conveniently, in particular, the opportunity to hunt for scholarships to study abroad from 10%, 30%, 50%, 100% of tuition fees is always for those who hurry up to apply. So, never delay!
